More than pearly whites

Blinding white teeth have become all the craze in this “extreme makeover” world.
Teeth whitening has grown so much in popularity that manufacturers are now advertising the benefits of oral care products for its cosmetic reasons. There is such an array of whitening products now available in all price ranges that the “Hollywood smile” once reserved only for the rich and famous is now economically accessible to everyone.
Although most celebrities have their teeth professional whiten by a dental professional, there are many over the counter products that will give the same results. One of the most popular teeth whitening product: Crest Whitestrips. These
teeth whitening strips are worn over the top and bottom teeth for about 30 mins to 1 hour per day for about two weeks. Although you may not see immediate results like the professionally done in-office whitening, it is much cheaper! For those who find wearing strips inconvenient, there are also paint-on delivery products such as the BriteSmile To Go Pens. Also cheaper than professional whitening, these pens deliver whiten gel through a brush tip applicator. Just paint and go, it doesn’t get much easier than that. Though I must say through personal use, it can get a little messy.
Speaking of messy...I recently heard that Britney Spears brought her 22 month old son to a dentist to get his teeth whiten! Apparently the good doctor refused, but did acknowledge that little Sean does have some problems with his teeth.
The easiest way to lighten the appearance of your teeth is to use a whitening toothpaste. Everyone has to brush their teeth anyways, might as well use something that fights cavity and whitens teeth. My favorite is the Dr. Collins All White Toothpaste. This toothpaste gives you the most bang for your buck. It has peroxide to whitening teeth, baking soda and xylitol to fight plaque, and cetyl pyridinium chloride for fresh breath. And it tastes good!
Although teeth whitening can’t make you a celebrity, it can improve one’s overall appearance. If you have concerns about bleaching your teeth, do what Britney did…consult your dentist!
