New Breakthrough in Headache and Migraine Prevention
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved
the NTI Tension Suppression System (NTI) as a drug-free
alternative to reducing headache pain and migraine-related
episodes that affects 28 million Americans. This safe and
effective device is simple to use, requires no surgery and has
no side-effects.
Patients affected by headaches and migraines generally tend
to contract their temporalis muscles 14 times more intensely
during sleep than those who are unaffected, resulting in
pericranial tenderness (muscle tenderness of the scalp). The NTI
is a dentist fabricated, custom made device fitted to a
patient’s front teeth and worn while sleeping. While in place,
the NTI reduces neuromuscular activity (jaw clenching) by
preventing any contact between the back molar or canine teeth;
thereby reducing migraine headache pain and attacks or
preventing them all together.
As Dr. James Boyd, D.D.S describes, “this device is
innovative because it addresses a contributing source of the
problem, rather than just ‘covering up’ the symptoms. Medication
simply addresses the symptoms.”
In a multicenter trial of the NTI device, 82% of sufferers
had a 77% reduction within 8 weeks. Use of drugs, such as
Imitrex, was reduced by almost 50% and there were no
side-effects and no new pains. With just a single visit to the
dentist, everyone can become an ex-migraine sufferer!
