Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I ordered a EU Waterpik and the Waterpik starts up, runs for about 5-10 seconds and then stops. Can hear motor whirring but it sounds as if it is jammed. Tried priming it by sucking, tried Vaseline on seal as per instructions but no joy?

If you are running a WP60 or WP70 from a 110V shaver point in UK, it is possible that the item is not damaged. However, these products will not run on a UK shaver point (this is why these products are not sold in UK). The shaver point has a power limitation of 20W, whereas the product needs around 40W. Hence it would make a noise but not pump properly.  If you do not have a normal power supply in your bathroom and only have a shaver socket, we recommend you buy the 350E Travel Waterpik which is rechargeable. this will allow you to use it anywhere once charged.

Q: Can the WP 360W be used with salt water, herbal solutions or other antibacterial agents?

You can use these solutions in your unit as long as they are pre-mixed in a separate container, and after use, you flush the unit with a full reservoir of plain water.

Q: What is the difference between Waterpik WP-60, WP-65, WP-70, WP-72 from a function and cleaning point of view. I see they all have different shapes and different tip numbers. How do they function differently?

Waterpik counter top models are essentially the same, motor, operating pulse and pressure, and overall dimensions.  They differ only in tip, and reservoir color and configuration.

  • WP-60 and WP-65 each come with one standard jet tip and one tongue cleaning tip.
  • The WP-70 comes with two standard jet tips and two tongue cleaning tips.
  • The WP-72 comes with a second medicament reservoir, 2 standard jet tips, one tongue cleaning tip, and one Pikpocket tip.
  • Standard tips are used for general purpose cleaning above the gumline and up to 2 millimeters below the gumline.
  • Tongue cleaning tips redirect the water to the rear surface of the tongue. Pikpocket tips allow irrigation up to 5mm below the gumline to allow the application of medicaments to a deep (gum) periodontal pocket.

Jet tip not fully engaged. Remove jet tip and reinstall.
IRRIGATOR BASE

Hose to the handle leaks

Reservoir leaks. Missing reservoir valve or reservoir valve is upside down. Replace reservoir valve (Call Authorized Service Center).  Turn valve right-side up.
Inadequate pressure. Reservoir not positioned properly. Re-position reservoir.  Press down firmly.
Doesn’t start. Motor not running. Be sure outlet is functioning; test with another appliance (check electrical reset button and/or wall switch).

Side the on/off switch up firmly.

Little or no pressure. Unit not primed.

If you live in a hard water area, calcium deposits may form causing the pump to stick.

See “System Usage” in instructions or with jet tip inserted, turn the unit on at low to medium pressure and gently suck on the end of the jet tip.

Unplug unit.  Insert a toothpick or straightened paper clip into the pump inlet (see system drawing) and press down.

Unit runs intermittently. Inlet valve may not be sealing properly. Lubricate the pump inlet with a small amount of petroleum jelly (such as Vaseline®) or a drop of mineral oil.
