Approximately 20% of the population
suffers from canker sores (kanker
sores, canker soar). Canker
sores do not appear to be caused by viruses or bacteria. The
cause is unknown. Mouth trauma such as following a dental procedure,
cheek, tongue or lip biting, even aggressive tooth cleaning
can cause canker sores.
Fever Blisters and Cold Sores
(cold soar) both refer to the medical
condition known as Oral Herpes. A herpes outbreak is clinically
composed in most instances of a cluster of tiny clear fluid-filled
skin blisters which bursts from minor trauma forming ulcers.
These ulcers spontaneously heal forming a scab without complications
in 10-14 days.
